Before we go on to understanding the 7 A strategy of content marketing, first we need to understand why content marketing is important to your business.
WHAT IS CONTENT MARKETING?
According to Wikipedia, content marketing is a form of marketing focused on creating, publishing, and distributing content for a targeted audience online. This definition does not give a lot of insight into what content marketing is so, I will be defining content marketing according to my research as; a strategic marketing technique of creating, transmitting, and circulating valuable, relevant, interesting, and consistent content that could be in form of written words, audios, videos, and images to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience with an objective of driving profitable customer reaction.
From this definition, we can draw out that:
⦁ Content marketing is strategic
⦁ Content shared must be valuable, relevant, and consistent
⦁ Content could be in form of written words, audios, videos, and images
⦁ The objective is driving profitable customer reaction
Content marketing is unique in the sense that, content marketing relies on anticipating and meeting an existing customer need for information, unlike other forms of online marketing that creates demand for a new need. So, you do not have to go to your audience. But with content marketing, your audience comes to you.
Content marketing requires consistent delivery of large amounts of content, preferably within a content marketing strategy.
WHY CONTENT MARKETING?
The most important way content marketing provides value to you as a business is through organic traffic. This is where people discover you on search platforms, like Google, YouTube, or a podcast directory, and go visit your content.
It is essentially different from other kinds of traffic for one critical reason, these people are looking for you. They are actively searching for information related to your business, that’s how they discovered you in the first place.
On every other platform, you’re interrupting whatever they’re doing. They’re passive observers instead of active searchers. It’s typically much harder and much more expensive to do that kind of marketing (think Facebook ads, YouTube ads, and basically every other kind of advertising).
Let’s talk about the 7 A strategy of content marketing. This strategy helps us ensure that the content we create is received exactly how it was intended, by whom it was intended, and consistently so. By implementing the 7 A’s into content marketing strategy, you will execute your marketing with a clear vision of what is needed at specific times to generate leads and make more sales.
Agile is a mindset that is essential in content marketing. It is the ability to adapt to changes and explore some guesses and framework. It is not creating the entire road map even before starting, it is doing more of what works and less of what does not work.
Authenticity in content marketing is not the same as oversharing, on the contrary, it is the use of a unique voice, using real human stories. Authentic content marketing creates the voice you use to represent your whole company, sets you apart from your competition, and tells your brand’s unique story.
Attention is the third A in the 7 A strategy of content marketing. In this age of several distractions available to us on the internet, if you cannot get a potential customer’s attention you really can not do anything else. You need to be able to capture your audience in a single moment, every time and you must work on keeping it, all the while maintaining growth in numbers too.
The golden rule for attention-grabbing is to have an excellent headline, but you can’t rely on it alone anymore, hooks, meaning, and fascination is now equally important. Content marketing needs to go beyond getting the click, it needs to be about getting sustained and increasing action.
The audience is a collection of people that serve various roles. The audience is very important and if you treat them with great care you are going to win. The audience is your powerhouse of knowledge, feeding you rich information about who they are, what they want and need, and how you can develop your products and services to improve their lives.
Just like I mentioned in authenticity, authority is not the same as arrogance rather, it is the use of a relatable human voice to teach the audience something that helps them to solve a problem. Sharing relevant meaningful and fascinating content to the audience when they want it in a way that they can enjoy; will ensure they keep coming back to you as a reputable source.
The sixth A is the part where someone is going to take action on the content you have been creating. This is writing that persuades or motivates an audience to take a specific action. A call-to-action remains one of the most important aspects of any content strategy and should be approached tactically, but most importantly it must be approached gracefully.
Acceleration does not have a set of defined action steps. Simply put acceleration is the benefit that comes from applying all the above 6 steps. It is the door that opens that you did not even know was there. Be mindful, be nice, and keep cultivating your network.
